On October 2, 2019, the entertainment industry was hit with a double tragedy as Machachari director Mburu Kimani lost his wife, Mary Mukiri, to lung cancer.
According to Mburu, his wife was diagnosed with lung cancer six months prior to her death and had been undergoing chemotherapy at the Texas cancer centre.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Mburu expressed his pain and shock at the loss of his wife, saying, 'It hurts to see someone who was healthy and okay just die like that.'
He added that having a cancer patient is not easy, 'You have to be courageous and strong for them (cancer patients). Cancer leaves one malnourished, drains your pocket and even after that she didn’t make it.'
Despite his wife not being a smoker, the couple is yet to understand how she developed the disease.
With four kids, including a two-year-old, Mburu is now a widower, and the family is still reeling from the loss.
The burial arrangements are underway, and the tragedy struck barely a week after Machachari was 'scripted' off Citizen TV.
