On September 30, a horrific crime shook the community of Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. Emmah Wanyota, a 21-year-old student at Vera Beauty College, was allegedly killed by her ex-lover, Mustafa.

According to reports, Mustafa smashed a blunt object against Wanyota's skull, raped her, and then mutilated her body by chopping off her two legs and one arm. He also cut off her genitals.

Mustafa then took Wanyota's body parts and dumped them in a Napier grass plantation located near her parents' home. The gruesome act took place between 6pm and 7:30pm.

Wanyota's sister, Sheila, revealed that Mustafa went to the police and reported the incident, but with contradictory information. He claimed that he had parted ways with Wanyota on August 5, and her mother was calling him to ask if he had seen her.

Residents of Eldoret had previously demonstrated over the murder, and the community is still reeling from the shock of this heinous crime.
