Prince Harry has announced that his wife, Meghan Markle, is taking legal action against Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper over the publication of a private letter.
Published on October 2, 2019, the letter was 'published unlawfully in an intentionally destructive manner', according to Prince Harry.
Addressing newspaper readers, Prince Harry stated that the article had 'purposely misled you by strategically omitting select paragraphs, specific sentences, and even singular words to mask the lies they had perpetuated for over a year.'
Prince Harry compared the situation to that of his mother, Princess Diana, who was hounded by the press before her death in a Paris car crash in 1997.
"My deepest fear is history repeating itself," he said in a statement. "I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces."
Prince Harry also highlighted the 'human cost' of the tabloid press's 'relentless propaganda', stating that it had been 'painful' for his wife and their newborn son.
