On October 2, 2019, a Form 2 student at Forest Hill Secondary in Subukia was rushed to the hospital after being severely injured in an incident involving hot uji.

According to reports, the student was scalded by a fellow student, and the extent of her injuries is still unclear.

She was initially taken to Topcare Dispensary before being transferred to Nakuru Level Five hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

Doctors at the hospital stated that the student cannot see, but it is not confirmed whether she has lost her sight permanently.

This incident comes just months after a three-year-old boy died in a similar incident at a school in the area.

A cook had left a sufuria with hot porridge unattended in the school corridor, and the boy tripped into it, resulting in his death.
