On October 1, 2019, Sarah Wairimu's plea-taking in the Tob Cohen murder case was supposed to take place, but it was deferred for the fourth time due to a dispute over her lawyer's representation.

The court has set a ruling date for October 3, 2019, to decide whether lawyer Philip Murgor will continue representing Sarah Wairimu in the case.

The prosecution, led by lawyer Cliff Ombeta, had requested the Attorney General to confirm whether Murgor was still a public prosecutor, citing a potential conflict of interest.

Murgor, however, accused the prosecution of colluding with legislators to remove him from representing Sarah Wairimu, arguing that the issue of representation should not be used to delay the case.

According to Murgor, Sarah Wairimu has a constitutional right to be represented by a lawyer of her choice, and the prosecution's actions are an attempt to undermine her rights.
