On October 1, 2019, Citizen TV journalist Hassan Mugambi received the Outstanding Media Security Investigative Journalist 2019 award from the Protective and Safety Association of Kenya (PROSAK) for his exceptional coverage of security matters in Kenya.

Mugambi, a seasoned security reporter and news anchor at Royal Media Services-owned Citizen TV, has over five years of experience in covering security stories, including reporting from the front lines in Somalia where Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) have been fighting Al Shabaab terrorists under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

With over eight years of journalistic experience, Mugambi has established himself as one of the leading security affairs journalists in the country.

PROSAK issues awards in various categories based on the security and safety professionals' experience and qualifications. Winners are selected through a rigorous selection process by the association's awards service board, which monitors performance in the different categories.

Mugambi's achievement marks the third time the Outstanding Media Security Investigative Journalist award has been given since its establishment in 2017. He was previously a runner-up in the award in 2017.
