On October 1, 2019, Machakos County police officers were transferred following allegations of corruption. The move came after Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai suspended a police officer for corruption.
According to reports, the officers were transferred to other departments within the county. The decision was made by Machakos County Commissioner John Muiruri.
However, Muiruri denied the allegations of corruption, stating that the transfers were due to the high number of police officers in the area, which was affecting their work.
Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai had previously suspended a police officer for corruption, and the move was seen as a step towards addressing the issue.
