Likoni Raid: Three Suspected Al-Shabaab Militants Killed in Anti-Terror Police Operation

On October 1, 2019, a joint operation by the Anti-Terror Police Unit in Likoni, Mombasa County, resulted in the deaths of three suspected Al-Shabaab militants.

Acting regional CID coordinator Paul Leting revealed that the operation was successful due to sufficient intelligence leads.

The three militants were planning attacks and mapping out areas to launch terror operations when they were gunned down by the police.

Police recovered a range of items, including pistol magazines, AK47 ammunition, knives, police and KDF uniforms, a grenade, and religious books.

A G3 rifle was also recovered, which the militants used to engage the police officers during the raid.

Seven other suspects have been taken into police custody to aid in investigations.

According to reports, the operation was carried out by the Anti-Terror Police Unit.
