On Monday, a shocking incident occurred at Lailuba market in Tigania West, Meru County, where a businessman drove his car into a crowd, leaving one person dead and four others injured.

According to County Police Commander Peter Karanja, the suspect, who is known to locals, managed to escape after the attack. Karanja stated that the man owns a shop at Muriri and arrived at the market, driving his vehicle into people and stabbing some of them.

Police are now pursuing the suspect, who allegedly grabbed a knife from a butchery at the Muriri trading centre and stabbed more people. The injured were taken to local health centres, with one being referred to Meru Referral and Teaching Hospital.

Assistant Commissioner Charles Egaire revealed that the attacker is from Lubuthirwa and that the attack appears to have been spontaneous. Egaire stated that the suspect just happened to be at the market and started attacking people before disappearing into the night.

It has also been reported that the middle-aged attacker is involved in another case, where he was arrested for killing and injuring camels. The suspect allegedly complained of being threatened by the camels' owner before embarking on the killing spree.
