September 7, 2019, marked a tumultuous day for gospel rapper Kamlesh Kagaba, who was wrongly arrested in connection with the Sh 72M G4S heist.
His detention sparked outrage among his fellow artists, who took to social media to protest his arrest, using the hashtag #FreeKamlesh.
Although Kagaba was later released, he described the experience as 'rough' and 'unprofessional.'
'I was confused and angry at the injustice in our systems,' he said. 'They did not torture me, but the approach of the arrest was wrong and unprofessional. I was worried about my wife and kids.'
Despite the ordeal, Kagaba expressed his gratitude to his fans and fellow musicians, including Juliani, who played a significant role in raising awareness about his situation.
Juliani had tweeted about Kagaba's arrest, saying he was taken into custody at his garage and that his whereabouts were unknown.
'Juliani came to visit me at the police station and found me being released,' Kagaba said. 'He and I go back, and seeing him stand with me was quite encouraging.'
Kagaba, who has been in the music industry since 2011, uses his music to empower and transform the youth.
