Published on October 1, 2019, eight people lost their lives in a wave of inter-clan violence in Banisa Constituency, Mandera County.
According to North Eastern Regional Commissioner Mohammed Birik, the attack was a retaliation for the killing of two people and the theft of 100 camels in Ethiopia.
Armed militia from one clan raided Doomal village at dawn, killing the victims on the spot, Birik said.
Security teams have been deployed to the area to diffuse tension, and additional police officers have been stationed in the region to maintain order.
The attack comes just days after leaders, led by Governor Ali Roba, called for peace among local communities.
