On October 1, 2019, Britain's High Commissioner to Kenya, Jane Marriot, called for dialogue to resolve the border dispute between Kenya and Somalia.

Speaking at Deputy President William Ruto's office in Karen, Marriot stressed that dialogue is the best approach to resolving the border dispute.

Marriot assured Kenya that the United Kingdom will share information on any possible security threats in the country before issuing travel advisories to its citizens.

This assurance came after Deputy President Ruto asked the UK to consider sharing information on security threats instead of issuing travel advisories, which he said were hurting the tourism sector.

The border dispute between Kenya and Somalia is currently being heard at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), with the two countries' leaders, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Somalia's President Mohammed Farmajo, meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Marriot's call for dialogue is a significant development in the ongoing border dispute, and it remains to be seen whether the two countries will be able to find an amicable solution.
