At the World Athletics Championship, reigning champion Conseslus Kipruto led a strong Kenyan contingent into the finals of the men's 3,000m steeplechase event on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.
Qualifying for the finals alongside Kipruto were Benjamin Kigen, who finished second in the third heat with a time of 8:19.44, and Abraham Kibiwot, who secured third place in the second heat with a time of 8:18.46.
Leonard Bett also made it to the finals after finishing third in the first heat with a time of 8:13.07.
Conseslus Kipruto, who won the third heat with a time of 8:19.20, was in high spirits, gesturing to the crowd and his competitors through the final 400 meters of the race.
