Disco parties in Siaya's Nyang'oma area have been banned, with the county's deputy commissioner, Samson Akach, citing the need to prevent students from attending these events during exam periods.

According to Akach, the disco parties, which are usually held at night, have been prohibited until students have completed their exams and schools have closed.

He noted that a large number of students attend these parties, which can interfere with their preparations for national exams.

"We have received information that a large number of students are attending these parties, and this is affecting their preparations for national exams," Akach said in an interview with Ramogi FM.

He advised those who have been granted permits to hold parties in the area to postpone them until December, when the national exams are expected to be over.

The national exams for primary school students (KCPE) are scheduled to take place from October 29 to 30, while those for secondary school students (KCSE) will take place from November 4 to 27.

Akach also addressed the issue of land ownership disputes between residents and advised them to follow the proper procedures when purchasing land.

He warned that buying land without following the proper procedures can lead to disputes and ownership issues.
