On October 1, 2019, NTSA authorities revealed details of an accident that claimed the life of Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru. The driver of the vehicle, Samuel Karanja, has since come forward to express his fear for his life.
According to Karanja, a man accosted him at a shopping mall, accusing him of being paid to finish off the governor. This incident has left Karanja shaken, and he is now living in fear.
The accident occurred when the Mercedes e250 veered off the road, causing the roadside rails to penetrate through the car and into the governor's body. An earlier report by an NTSA expert suggested that Karanja failed to apply the brakes, which may have contributed to the governor's death.
However, Karanja disputes this claim, stating that the airbag on the driver's side launched immediately the car veered off, making his feet stick on the gas pedal. Interestingly, it is alleged that the airbag on Gakuru's side failed to deploy on that fateful day.
