Unseen Hand of Raila, Uhuru in Onyango Oloo's Woes ¶
Onyango Oloo, the former Kisumu county assembly speaker, has been ousted from his position, and fresh details indicate that the move was orchestrated by a secret plot involving Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to sources, Raila Odinga secretly gave a nod to the plot, which led to Oloo's ouster. Uhuru Kenyatta is also said to be happy with the development, given Oloo's past betrayal of trust.
Onyango Oloo had been a key figure in the Jubilee Party, but his abrasive nature and past sins against Raila Odinga had made him a marked man. His claim that Uhuru Kenyatta did not win the 2013 general election but rigged his way to power was seen as a classic case of betrayal.
When Oloo lost the Kisumu Central constituency seat to Fred Outa in 2017, he was voted in as speaker for Kisumu county, but his troubles began soon after. He was accused of using intimidation and divide-and-rule tactics to stay in power, and his enemies regrouped to have him blocked from presiding over activities at the county assembly.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission squad had already knocked on his door over the Sh4.2 billion Lake Basin Development Authority mall scandal, and Oloo briefly went into hiding in Mombasa before presenting himself to the police. He even managed to pay some of the Kisumu MCAs to show solidarity with him, but little did he know that they would later be part of the team that agitated for his ouster.
The climax of the drama was when Oloo attempted to force his way into the assembly, but was met with resistance from the police and his critics. In a shouting match, he invoked the names of Raila and Uhuru, but his critics countered by telling him that his ouster was approved by Raila.
