On September 26th and 27th, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) suspended the licenses of nine matatu saccos in the city for violating provisions of the Authority.

According to NTSA, the saccos were operating below the minimum number of vehicles required by law. The NTSA PSV regulations require every Sacco to operate at least 30 serviceable motor vehicles.

NTSA notified the public of the suspension, stating that the nine saccos had failed to comply with Section 5(1) of the National Transport and Safety Authority (Operation of PSV) Regulations, 2014, which requires a PSV Sacco/Company to operate a minimum of Thirty (30) serviceable motor vehicles.

The suspension will affect commuters traveling on Saccos such as City tram, Moonlight Coach, and Transafaria. NTSA advises members of the public to shun vehicles belonging to the suspended Saccos to avoid inconveniences.
