October 1, 2019, marked a day of chaos in Tigania, Meru, as a man went on a killing spree, leaving a trail of destruction and death in his wake.

According to police sources, Joshua Kireru had been arrested and arraigned earlier for injuring camels, with his case set to be heard on November 3.

However, on the day of the incident, Kireru complained to the police of being threatened by the camel owner, which led to his release.

“He got into his vehicle, a Probox, at around 5.30pm, went to the market and ran over people who were selling vegetables,” OCPD Peter Karanja revealed.

Four women and one man were reportedly injured in the incident, which sent shockwaves through the community.

The suspect then proceeded to Kamanoro, where he allegedly stabbed a man to death, leaving the police scrambling to apprehend him.

“He went wild, brandishing a knife to everyone. We are still looking for him,” the police boss said.
