Kenya's healthcare system is facing a severe crisis, with hospitals struggling to provide basic amenities to patients. One of the most alarming issues is the lack of running water in emergency surgery theaters, forcing doctors to use IV fluids to sterilize their hands.
According to a video posted by Deputy Secretary-General of the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists & Dentists Union, Chibanzi Mwachonda, doctors are resorting to using IV fluids to scrub their hands before and after surgery due to the absence of running water in hospital taps.
Dr. Ouma Oluga, Secretary-General & CEO of the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists & Dentists' Union, also shared a video on Twitter, highlighting the struggles faced by doctors in hospitals with no running water.
Is this the kind of healthcare system we want to see in Kenya? The Nyakundi Report urges Kenyans to support our local doctors and medical practitioners in cleaning up the mess in our health sector. Share your thoughts and experiences with us via [email protected] or via Telegram.
