Cellulant's Mula Rebrands to Tingg, Launching Africa's First Payments Super App ¶
On October 1, 2019, Cellulant, a pan-African payments firm, announced a major rebrand of its consumer brand Mula to Tingg, a unified platform that offers a comprehensive list of digital financial services in one app across eight African markets.
Tingg promises to address the challenges of the payments landscape across Africa by providing an amalgamated platform that overcomes regional barriers and provides a seamless payment experience for businesses and customers across Africa.
According to Cellulant's Chief of Brand, Divine Muragijimana, the rebranding and consolidation of their brands is aimed at providing an inclusive platform where commerce takes place seamlessly, focusing on the exchange of goods and services and adding value to the end-consumer.
With Tingg, consumers and businesses can access a wide range of services, including bill payments, remittances, lending, group investments, food, and gas orders, all in one app. The platform is designed to cater to different consumer and business segments in various sectors, including banking, e-commerce, hospitality, food, travel, logistics, and agriculture.
Cellulant's vision of connecting everyone to everything is centered around providing an inclusive platform where commerce takes place seamlessly, making payments easier, faster, and cheaper, and adding value to the end-consumer.
By launching Tingg in eight African markets, Cellulant's digital payment infrastructure will connect consumers and businesses to over 120 banks and 40 mobile network operators in one inclusive network, allowing for interoperability that has eluded numerous players in the African payments space.
