Likoni Ferry Tragedy: Businesswoman Mariam Kigenda and Daughter Amanda Die in Ocean Accident

On Sunday evening, a devastating accident occurred at the Likoni ferry channel, claiming the lives of Mariam Kigenda, a 35-year-old businesswoman from Mombasa, and her four-year-old daughter Amanda Mutheu.

According to reports, the vehicle carrying Mariam and Amanda sank in the ocean, leaving behind a trail of shock and grief.

As of Monday evening, 24 hours after the incident, the vehicle and its occupants had yet to be recovered, sparking outrage among Kenyans.

Mariam was married to John Wambua and had two children, Alvin and Amanda. Her friends and family have taken to social media to mourn her passing, sharing heartfelt messages and memories of her life.

"Mama Alvin, it's hard for me to say you are no more," wrote Hon. Sheila Karembo. "I still believe you will come out of that water and I see you breathe. Last week you called me and you wanted to bring me more dresses..."

Other friends and family members also shared their condolences, with many expressing shock and sadness at the loss of Mariam and Amanda.

"This is unacceptable for the accident that happens in the Indian Ocean," wrote Kawangware Finest. "Don't we have a Quick Response Marine Services? We watched the Car Sinking and Killing its occupants."

As the nation mourns the loss of Mariam and Amanda, many are calling for improved safety measures and a more efficient response team at the ferry services.
