Published on October 1, 2019, a devastating building collapse at Precious Talent School in Dagoreti, Nairobi, left eight pupils dead and many more shaken.
Despite the tragedy, hundreds of irate parents and their children crowded the school's playground and gate, demanding their books, backpacks, and other belongings.
Parents interviewed by the media expressed their desire for their children to continue schooling at Precious Talent, citing the school's exemplary performance, affordability, and ease of access.
Some parents claimed that since the school's inception, it had enabled their children to perform exceptionally well at an affordable cost, charging approximately Sh21,000 each year.
Public schools like Ngong Forest Primary, Riruta Satellite Primary, and Jamhuri Primary, recommended by the Government as alternatives, were deemed unsuitable options by the parents.
The parents expressed concerns about the distance and security threats their children would face while attending these schools, as well as the poor performance of these schools in KCPE examinations.
One parent remarked, 'This school always tops. It always posts many pupils with over 400 marks.'
