Strongman Brian Shaw has made a significant change to his diet after finishing seventh in the Arnold Strongman Europe contest earlier this month.
Shaw, a four-time World's Strongest Man, previously consumed a diet of close to 10,000 calories, which included a large amount of rib-eye. However, he has now switched to a new diet that includes more fruits and complex carbohydrates.
According to a recent video uploaded to his YouTube page, Shaw has been struggling with his old diet, which he believes has contributed to his recent lack of performance in competitions. He has decided to reunite with his old nutritionist, Nathan Payton, who helped him achieve a three World's Strongest Man winning streak in 2011.
Shaw's new diet includes a variety of fruits such as apples, oranges, blackberries, and blueberries, as well as salad, potatoes, and rice noodles. He has also added new carbohydrates such as pasta sauce, corn grits, and sweet potato fries.
Shaw's grocery trip, which was documented in the YouTube video, cost him just over $200. He also purchased a 15-pound bag of Calrose Rice and a shelf sleeve of rice noodles.
Shaw's new diet is a significant departure from his previous one, which consisted mainly of meat. He has partnered with a company that will deliver his weekly meat needs right to his house.
