On Monday, September 30, 2019, Ethiopian Muktar Edris retained his 5,000 meters title at the World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Edris, 25, who had previously denied British legend Mo Farah gold in his last track final two years ago, crossed the finish line in 12 minutes 58.85 seconds.
Selemon Barega, 19, took silver in 12:59.70, while Canada's Mohammed Ahmed secured bronze in a time of 13:01.11.
Despite their impressive performances, the Norwegian Ingebrigtsen brothers failed to make a significant impact in the event.
European champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen fared the best among the trio, but ultimately fell short of the podium, finishing behind Edris and Barega.
