On Sunday, Bandari FC made history by eliminating Tunisia's US Ben Guerdane 3-2 on aggregate in the CAF Confederations Cup, thanks in part to their excellent pre-season training prior to the 2019/20 season.
According to head coach Bernard Mwalala, the team's preseason training, which included matches against top African clubs, significantly boosted their performance.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mwalala described the win as historic and vowed that more success is yet to come from his young side.
However, he also challenged his strikers to rediscover their scoring form, citing two open chances that went begging in the first half.
Ugandan talisman William Wadri came to the rescue with a sublime strike in the second half, securing Bandari's spot in the tournament's final qualification round.
The team is expected to return to Kenya on Tuesday, where they will face Posta Rangers on Thursday and Sofapaka two days later.
With their unbeaten streak this season, a win against Rangers would see Bandari pip Western Stima to the top of the Kenyan Premier League.
