On July 6, 2019, Amedo, a prominent blogger, tweeted that he had been arrested and was being held at the Pangani Police Station. The reason for his arrest was his involvement in the Tanga Tanga WhatsApp group, which was under investigation by the DCI.

His tweet sparked concern among his friends and followers, but a deafening silence came from DP Ruto and his lieutenants. It wasn't until September 27, 2019, that Dennis Itumbi broke the silence, asking about Amedo's whereabouts.

However, Amedo had already spoken out, revealing that he was safe and sound, but had chosen to take a low profile and quit online activism for Ruto. He claimed that his family had helped him get out of trouble, and that Ruto's team had abandoned him after his arrest.

According to Amedo, when he was arrested, Ruto and his lieutenants didn't make a big deal about him. Instead, they went to visit Dennis Itumbi, who was being held at Muthaiga. Amedo seemed to have learned a lesson and moved on, but his story serves as a reminder of the dangers of being used by politicians and abandoned when they get in trouble.
