Deputy President William Ruto has made a surprising claim that building churches is part of the Big Four Agenda, specifically under universal health coverage. This statement was made during an interdenominational prayer service and harambee for eight churches in Vihiga on Sunday.

According to Ruto, building churches falls under the universal health coverage aspect of the Big Four Agenda. He stated, “Nimekuja kujua kumbe kujenga kanisa pia ni program ya Big Four, hasa mambo ya universal health coverage,”

Ruto further explained that the church helps in treating the psychosomatic disorder, which he described as an illness that connects the mind and body. He said, “Kumbe kuna ugonjwa ingine inasumbua watu na watu wakija kanisani hiyo ujongwa inapotea? Ati inaitwa psychosomatic disorder,”

He went on to say that building of churches will help reduce the number of people diagnosed with the disorder, thereby contributing to the Big Four Agenda's universal health coverage.

Psychosomatic disorder is an illness that connects the mind and body, according to News Medical. It occurs when physiological functioning of the body is affected by psychological tensions, causing a disease or worsening a pre-existing disease.
