On September 29, 2019, a devastating incident occurred at the Likoni Ferry in Mombasa, Kenya, where a vehicle carrying three people plunged into the Indian Ocean.

According to reports, the vehicle, a grey saloon car, was driven by a 35-year-old woman named Mariam Kighenda, who was accompanied by her two daughters, Amanda Wambua, 4, and another daughter whose name has not been released.

Rescuers are still searching for the three missing victims, with divers facing a significant challenge due to the depth of the ocean. The vehicle is reported to have sunk 60 meters deep, and Kenya Ferry Services is currently negotiating with the Kenya Navy for more oxygen to aid in the search.

Kenya Ferry Services confirmed the incident on social media, stating that at 6:15 PM, a saloon car reversed and plunged into the ocean while on board the MV Harambee ferry.

As the search continues, the community is left in shock, and the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance when using ferries.
