Concerns are growing over a group of Nairobi residents operating under the Concerned Citizens Alliance, with allegations that they have been hijacked by a wealthy businesswoman to target her perceived enemies.
According to sources, the group, which has been involved in an intimidation and extortion spree, is being bankrolled by Dr. Pamela Olet, CEO of the Kenya Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council (KenTTEC).
Dr. Olet, who owns the Meledan Club in Nairobi, is accused of exploiting some members of the group, who are reportedly being used to intimidate and extort money from unsuspecting targets.
One of the group's members, Lawrence Oyugi, has been identified as a notorious figure, often seen with George Bush, who claims to be the Board Chairman of the group.
Bush has been accused of impersonating the National Youth Council Kenya chairman and has been involved in organizing demonstrations at police stations, including the Capital Hill Police station.
Stakeholders are demanding clear information about the group's physical address and mission, with some accusing them of operating as a 'briefcase NGO' with no genuine intention of championing citizen rights.
