On Monday, a dismal turnout was recorded at Ngong Forest Primary School as only eight pupils out of 480 from Precious Talent Top School showed up for classes.
The transfer of the pupils was a result of the school's closure after a classroom collapsed, killing eight pupils and leaving several others with serious injuries on Monday last week.
As part of the preparations for the new pupils, the Ministry of Education had supplied desks, textbooks, and transferred six teachers to Ngong Forest Primary School to ensure the pupils received quality education.
According to the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Prof George Magoha, the school had created space in six classrooms for the new arrivals.
Prof Magoha had directed the pupils to be transferred to Ngong Forest Primary School, Jamhuri Primary School, and Riruta Satellite Primary School after the school was shut down on Thursday last week following a recommendation by a task force set up to look into the safety of the pupils.
On Thursday, Prof Magoha had shut down Precious Talent Top School after it was found to have violated the guidelines set for the school, with a high enrollment of over 800 pupils and lack of safe physical facilities and qualified teaching staff.
