On Tuesday night, a tragic incident unfolded in Kasuku, Ol Joro Orok, where a 28-year-old man lost his life while attempting to rescue a minor from two alleged rapists.
According to reports, John Wanyati Kiarie, 28, was walking home to Gituamba village from Kasuku at 8 pm when he heard a distress call from a 13-year-old girl who was being defiled by two men, identified as boda boda operators.
Without hesitation, Kiarie rushed to the scene to rescue the minor, but unfortunately, he was hit with metal in the head and died on the way to the hospital.
The minor, who sustained a cut in the head, is recovering at an Ol Kalou hospital and is undergoing counseling, according to Nyandarua Health executive Njenga Mungai.
Two suspects, James Kariuki Wangari, 23, and Ken Mungai Mirugi, 20, have been arrested in connection with the incident, after the minor mentioned their names upon regaining consciousness.
Ol Joro Orok is a small town in Nyandarua County, Kenya.
