On September 29, 2019, a tragic road accident claimed the lives of four Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers along the Meru-Isiolo highway.

According to reports, the driver of the vehicle they were traveling in lost control and collided head-on with an oncoming saloon car, resulting in the instant deaths of the soldiers.

Confirming the incident, Buuri OCPD stated that the soldiers were en-route to an undisclosed destination when their lives were suddenly halted in the crash.

The occupants of the saloon car, a man, his wife, and children, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Kiirua Mission Hospital for specialized treatment.

The accident is the latest in a string of unfortunate incidents that have claimed the lives of uniformed men and women while on duty.

Earlier this year, a truck carrying KDF soldiers overturned in Machakos county, leaving eight soldiers bedridden with serious injuries.

It is alleged that the drivers appointed to transport the KDF personnel lack the necessary qualifications and licenses, contributing to the string of accidents.
