On September 21, 2019, a caller made a shocking phone call to the police, claiming to have committed murder. The call was made using the elderly woman's mobile phone on the toll-free line 112, hours before the bodies of Judy Wanjiku Mwai, 73, and her daughter Catherine Nyaguthii, 47, were discovered by a relative inside their two separate rooms in their four-bedroom house in South B.
A highly placed police source revealed that Catherine Nyaguthii could have murdered her mother for undisclosed reasons and then taken her own life. The source stated, 'Police have made great progress on the south b murder incident. We are following very good leads.'
Speculation surrounds the circumstances of Catherine's death, with some speculating that she may have poisoned herself, given the lack of marks on her body. However, the police source declined to elaborate on the matter.
It is worth noting that the caller's statement to the police, 'Nimeua, sasa kujeni muniue (I have killed, now come and kill me)', raises questions about the identity of the caller and the events that transpired on that fateful night.
