This archive report was first published on 30 September 2019.

On September 23, 2019, a tragic discovery was made at the South B home of Judy Wanjiku Mwai, 73, and her daughter Catherine Nyaguthii, 47. The mother and daughter's lifeless bodies were found by Judy's sister in their four-bedroom house.

A highly placed police source revealed that Catherine Nyaguthii could have murdered her own mother for reasons that have yet to be disclosed.

According to the source, Catherine might have taken her own life afterwards, possibly by poisoning, as there were no visible marks on her body.

Earlier that day, a caller had phoned the police, claiming to have committed murder. The call was made using Judy's mobile phone on the toll-free line 112 at around 9:00 AM on September 21, 2019.

Police detectives are following up on the lead, but the source declined to elaborate on the matter.

As the investigation continues, the police source expressed confidence in the progress made so far, stating, "Police have made great progress on the South B murder incident. We are following very good leads."
