Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa has renewed his attacks on former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, accusing him of being an enemy of development in Western Kenya.

Speaking during Deputy President William Ruto's tour of Vihiga county on September 29, Echesa claimed that Raila had made it his mission to undo Ruto's work in the region.

According to Echesa, Raila had been frustrating development projects initiated by Ruto in Western Kenya, and as a result, no progress was being realised.

"That witch-doctor came here with the handshake agenda and started fighting the deputy president and undoing all the plans the DP had. He said all that was being done in terms of development were corrupt," Echesa told the area residents.

He added that when they proposed constructing roads in Vihiga, Raila said it was corruption, and when they suggested opening companies, he said it was also corruption.

Deputy President William Ruto was accompanied by several politicians, including former Vihiga governor Moses Akaranga, former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale, and several MPs, during his tour of Vihiga county.

The DP has been making deliberate attempts to build his support base and gain a foothold in the Western Kenya region, perceived to be an Opposition stronghold, ahead of the 2022 political duel.
