On September 30, 2019, popular actor Davis Mwambili, known as Inspekta Mwala, was charged in court for killing a pedestrian last month. He has since spoken out for the first time, apologizing to the deceased family and expressing remorse for the accident.

According to reports, Mariakani senior principal Magistrate Nelly Adalo sentenced Inspekta Mwala to 1 year in jail or pay a Sh30,000 fine. In a statement, Inspekta Mwala said, 'I am very sorry. I also ask for forgiveness from the family of the deceased. I had not planned to cause the accident. I had no intention to kill, save that an accident occurred and I cannot have left where I was to go and cause the accident.'

Inspekta Mwala has been lying low since the incident, but recently shared a post on social media advising his followers to be cautious of fake friends. He wrote, 'Kwa hii maisha kuwa makini sana na walio karibu nawe kwa maana hao ndiye wanakerwa na mafanikio yako kuliko wale huwajui [In this life be very keen with those you call friends because they are the same people who don’t want to see you prosper].'
