On September 30, 2019, a report by the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA) highlighted the significant digital divide between men and women in Kenya.

According to the report, 10% of women in Kenya are less likely to own a mobile phone compared to men, while 23% have limited internet access.

These disparities hinder women's digital skills and economic growth, exacerbating existing inequalities.

Despite these challenges, empowering women remains a crucial step towards bridging the digital divide and promoting inclusive growth.

Women play a vital role in Africa's food production, with 70% of the continent's food grown by women.

However, if women had access to digital tools that enhance agriculture, they could significantly contribute to food security.

Addressing the digital divide requires a multi-faceted approach, involving government institutions, corporations, and non-governmental organizations.

Initiatives such as integrating internet training in schools and tailoring curriculums to promote equal economic growth are essential steps towards bridging the gap.

By dispelling myths and misconceptions surrounding women's roles in the digital scene, we can create opportunities for positive change and empower women to forge a new path.
