On September 30, 2019, Kenya's Malkia Strikers made history by securing their first-ever win at the FIVB Volleyball Women World Cup, defeating African champions Cameroon 3-1 in Osaka, Japan.

China retained their world title after a convincing 3-0 win over Argentina, finishing with 32 points ahead of the USA, who accumulated 28 points.

The Kenyan team, led by experienced setter Jane Wacu, showcased impressive spiking from Sharon Chepchumba and Mercy Moim, securing a 25-15 win in the first set and a 26-24 victory in the second set.

However, Cameroon fought back to win the third set 25-14, but Kenya improved in the fourth set to wrap up the match 25-21, securing eleventh place with three points from 11 matches.

Malkia Strikers' blocks were a highlight, with Triza Atuka and Edith Wisa standing out in all four sets.

Cameroon's loss ensured they finished at the bottom of the 12-team tournament.

Kenya's top scorers, Mercy Moim and Sharon Chepchumba, accumulated 19 and 18 points respectively, while Stephanie Fotso Mogoung and Christelle Tchoudjang Nana led Cameroon with 11 and 12 points.
