On Sunday, a police officer in Kirinyaga County tragically took his own life in a shocking incident.

Constable Gerald Ngige Mwai, a resident of Wang'ata village in Kirinyaga Central, hanged himself with a leso in the bedroom of his house.

According to Ndia OCPD Mutwiri Mwongera, the officer's children discovered their father dangling from the roof of the bedroom and raised the alarm.

The children then informed their mother, who was at a nearby church, about the distressing situation.

The body of the deceased was moved to Kibugi Funeral Home for further arrangements.

It is still unclear what led to the officer's decision to take his own life.
