Kenyan Premier League side Bandari have secured a spot in the Caf Confederation Cup playoff after a thrilling 3-2 aggregate win against Tunisia's US Ben Guerdane.

Published on September 29, 2019, the match saw Bandari lose 2-1 in the return leg away on Sunday, but their 2-0 win at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in the first leg proved decisive.

According to Bernard Osoro, Head of Corporate Affairs at Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), the result is a significant achievement for the Mombasa-based club and the entire region.

"We are now representing East Africa in the playoff stage, and that means a lot. It was a very tough match, but what matters is we are through to the next stage," Osoro said in an interview with Nation Sport from Tunisia on Sunday.

At the Ben Guerdane stadium, Bandari found themselves chasing the game early on, with Ricardo Alves scoring in the fourth minute and doubling his side's lead in the 21st minute. However, Bandari custodian Michael Wanyika denied Alves a hat-trick in the 64th minute from the spot.

Cliff Kasuti's perfect cross into the box in the 89th minute led to Ugandan international William Wadri thumping in the lifeline goal for Bandari.
