On Sunday, September 29, 2019, a group of elite and upcoming athletes from the North Rift region converged at an Eldoret hotel to watch the BMW Berlin Marathon live on TV.
Organized by Bank of Africa, Multichoice, Kenya Revenue Authority, and the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya, the event has become an annual tradition, bringing together athletes and marathon fans for a day of solidarity and engagement.
Among the notable attendees were Ugandan Stephen Kiprotich, the 2012 London Olympic Champion, Abdi Negaye, the Dutch marathon champion, and Stephen Katam, the 2018 Istanbul marathon Champion.
Speaking to Nation Sport after the event, Bank of Africa's Eldoret branch manager, Richard Maritim, emphasized the bank's commitment to supporting local talents through its 'Mwanariadha Account' and Asset Finance.
"This is our sixth year hosting this event, and we're here to educate our athletes on the benefits of our Mwanariadha account," Maritim said.

"We believe that Kenyan athletes are an integral part of the country's heritage. In line with our Corporate Social Responsibility pillar of sports, arts, and culture, we're committed to growing and enhancing their craft as well as their lives," said the bank's Public Relations Officer, Carren Wanjiru.
Kenya Revenue Authority's North Rift chief manager, Andrew Mpungu, also emphasized the importance of tax compliance among athletes.
"We want our athletes to be tax compliant. This is why we take this opportunity to sensitize and be part of them to be tax compliant," Mpungu said.
Multichoice Africa's North Rift Sales and Marketing manager, Eric Dennis, expressed the company's commitment to supporting athletes and other sports.
"We will continue reducing our prices even as we continue sponsoring the local talents," Dennis said.
As the focus shifts to Eliud Kipchoge's "Ineos 1:59 Challenge" in Vienna, Austria on October 12, athletes and fans alike are eagerly awaiting the historic attempt to break the two-hour marathon barrier.
