Published on September 29, 2019, Musalia Mudavadi's US tour has been marred by low attendance at his public address, with sources indicating that only a handful of Kenyans showed up.
The tour, aimed at fundraising and meeting Kenyans in support of Mudavadi's 2022 presidential ambitions, has been reduced to a Luhya affair, with other tribes giving it a wide berth, according to sources who accompanied the ANC leader to the US.
Mudavadi's failure to take a strong stance on the referendum matter has been cited as a reason for the lack of interest in his tour. In contrast, Americans and Kenyans abroad prefer individuals who take a combative approach, unlike Mudavadi, who often adopts a soft politics approach by remaining on the middle ground on important issues.
Accompanying Mudavadi on his tour were Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi, Nambale MP Bunyasi Sakwa, former Governor Issa Timany, and other leaders, including party Secretary General Barrack Muluka, who are strategizing for his presidential bid.
