On September 29, 2019, a dramatic shootout unfolded on Juja Road, Nairobi, as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) clashed with a gang of six robbery suspects.
According to the DCI, the suspects had robbed two residents in the Whitecastle area and attempted to flee with their car. However, upon receiving the report, detectives based in Pangani Police Station launched a manhunt and eventually caught up with the gang.
Despite orders to surrender, the suspects chose to engage in a gunfight with the detectives. The ensuing shootout resulted in the deaths of four suspects, while two others managed to escape and are currently being pursued by the police.
During the operation, the detectives recovered two pistols with several rounds of ammunition and four knives from the scene.
The incident serves as a testament to the bravery and swift action of the DCI in bringing perpetrators of crime to justice.
