On Sunday, a devastating accident occurred in Bangkok's suburbs, claiming the lives of 13 people, mostly students, when a pick-up truck flipped over while trying to change lanes.

According to police, the truck was carrying 18 people, including students and company officials, who were celebrating the end of their mechanical training.

Graphic CCTV footage shows passengers being hurled out of the vehicle onto the road, with 12 people dying instantly and one later passing away at the hospital.

Police officer Samran Chaytao told AFP, "Twelve people died instantly and one later died at the hospital," adding that nine of the victims were college-age students who had finished their mechanical training for a local company.

Two of the five survivors had severe injuries, while the World Health Organisation's data showed Thailand with 32.7 road deaths per 100,000 people, compared to 12.4 in the United States.

Deadly accidents are common in Thailand, which regularly tops lists of the world's most lethal roads, with speeding, drunk driving, and weak law enforcement contributing factors.
