Published on September 29, 2019, the 2019 Berlin Marathon saw a thrilling women's race, with Gladys Cherono of Kenya losing her crown to Ashete Bekere of Ethiopia.

Bekere emerged victorious, crossing the finish line in 2:20:14, a full 7 seconds ahead of her compatriot Mare Dibaba, who finished second in 2:20:21.

Kenya's Sally Chepyego completed the podium, finishing third in 2:21:06.
