The National Gun Owners Association (NGAO-Kenya) hosted their monthly International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) match at the Kirigiti Range in Kiambu County on September 29, 2019.
A total of 56 shooters from various backgrounds participated in the tournament, navigating six courses of fire in diverse scenarios.
Team Coast lived up to their winning reputation, clinching several trophies throughout the competition.
Notable winners included Ibrahim Ndungu, who finished second in the Sharpshooter category, Omar Moosa, who won the Marksman category, and Taib Muzahim, who took home the Novice title.
Sgt Aden Mohammed emerged victorious in the Expert category, with NGAO-K chairman Anthony Wahome finishing second.
Unfortunately, there were no entries in the Masters category, as the would-be competitors, Robert Nyamongo, Mohammed Omar, and Sammy Onyango, were busy competing and officiating at the IDPA African Championships in Cape Town, South Africa.
NGAO-K chairman Anthony Wahome commended the event organizers, safety officers, participants, and sponsors for their collaborative efforts in making the event a success.
He encouraged civilian licenced firearm holders to participate in such monthly events to improve their proficiency, as envisioned in the Firearms Act Cap 114.
The Mashujaa Day Shoot is scheduled for October 26, 2019 at the same venue in Kirigiti, while Team Kenya participants in the World Championships will depart for Alabama on October 25.
