On September 29, 2019, a tense situation unfolded in Garissa Township Primary School where a rally in support of the Uhuru-Raila handshake pact was underway.

Anti-riot police were on high alert as intelligence reports had indicated plans to disrupt the rally due to local politics and the battle for regional supremacy between Governor Ali Korane and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale.

As more than 10 legislators arrived, the rowdy youths stormed the venue, prompting the police to respond swiftly with teargas canisters to disperse the crowd.

Despite the initial chaos, the event proceeded without further disruptions, with speakers calling for an end to high voltage politics.

Leaders present, including Likoni MP Mishi Mboko and Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga, emphasized the need to focus on work and let Kenyans see their efforts before delving into politics in 2022.
