Published on September 29, 2019, Kenya's avocado exports have seen remarkable growth as the global demand for the fruit increases.

According to Tridge, Kenya accounts for 3.2% of the world's avocado production, with the country's production soaring in recent years. In 2018, Kenya's avocado exports were worth KSh 12.2 billion, a significant increase from KSh 6.5 billion in 2016 and KSh 5.2 billion in 2015, as reported by Daily Nation.

The country's growing avocado industry has sparked interest in fruit from various counties, with Uasin Gishu county issuing avocado seedlings to farmers. The county plans to establish at least 1000 acres of avocados, diversifying its portfolio of products and adding extra value to its income from cereals.

Kenya's success in the avocado export market has also led to the country overtaking South Africa in total production. The recent deal to export avocados to China has further boosted the industry's growth.
