As a busy office worker, there's nothing quite like the rush of grabbing a quick lunch at the nearest restaurant. But have you ever stopped to think about the ingredients that make your meal truly special? For me, it's all about the tomato sauce – that one ingredient that brings everything together.
While store-bought tomato sauce can be convenient, I much prefer making my own at home. Not only do I know exactly what's going into my sauce, but I can also tailor it to my taste preferences. And the best part? It's incredibly easy to make!
Here's my simple recipe for homemade tomato sauce:
- Blanch, skin, and chop tomatoes, setting them aside.
- In olive oil, fry chopped onions and minced garlic until soft.
- Add tomatoes, basil, oregano, and salt to taste, then cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce reaches your desired thickness.
- Remove from the heat and let cool before blending and storing in mason jars.
So, what do you think? Would you give homemade tomato sauce a try?
