Kenya Railways is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to steer the corporation forward, following the suspension of Atanas Maina in August 2018 over corruption allegations.
According to an advertisement published in local newspapers on September 29, 2019, the ideal candidate should have at least 15 years of relevant experience in public service or a large private sector organization.
The successful applicant will also require a bachelor's and master's degree in fields such as engineering, business administration, marketing, or strategic management.
Atanas Maina was arrested on August 12, 2018, alongside National Land Commission Chairman Mohammed Swazuri, over corruption allegations related to the compensation of public land for the Standard Gauge Railway project.
According to the Director of Public Prosecutions, taxpayers' money was lost in fraudulent compensation for five pieces of public land acquired for the railway project.
The Lands Commission was criticized by Parliament's Public Accounts Committee for failing to provide accurate details of acreage, plot numbers, and valuation information 12 months after compensation was paid out.
